GHASTLY AWARD NOMINEE - Best Writer:

Steve Niles (Criminal Macabre, 30 Days of Night, Transfusion, Frankenstein Alive, Alive, Lot 13)

The first review of FLESH AND BLOOD Vol. 2 from SCOOP said the graphic novel "transcends their inspiration"!

"It has been frequently said about Book One of this graphic novel series – including by us – that writer Robert Tinnell and artist Neil Vokes have steeped this title in the old Hammer Studios horror films. That, however, is an unfair comparison. Unfair to Tinnell and Vokes, that is.

What these two frequent collaborators have done is nothing less than transcend their inspiration. Horror fans, particularly Hammer fans, will read this latest volume and at least some of them are bound to realize that the films that the creators saw as children and young adults were simply never as good as what’s happening on these pages.

Monsterverse doesn’t get a lot of press, but this graphic novel series is the kind of thing that could change that if word keeps getting out."

FLESH AND BLOOD VOL. 1

Last year FLESH AND BLOOD won BEST ORIGINAL HORROR GRAPHIC NOVEL 2011 at ComicMonsters.com (as voted on by the public) in TWO top awards for BEST HORROR GRAPHIC NOVEL of 2011. One from the public and one from the pros!

FLESH AND BLOOD: A Graphic Novel Series Volume One was awarded the 2011 GHASTLY AWARD for BEST ORIGINAL HORROR GRAPHIC NOVEL under the creative team of writer Robert Tinnell, artist Neil D Vokes and colorist Matt Webb. Cover by the uber-talented monster artist Dan Brereton. Publisher and editor Kerry Gammill with assistant editor Sam F. Park work to guide each book in production and its release.

Shock Till You Drop says: "Bela Lugosi's Tales from the Grave is a great comic...a fantastic [horror] anthology...Put this one on your pull list kids...it's got more quality work than most of the Big 2's comics ... Maybe it's that I didn't grow up with the comics so I can't appreciate them like some people. Maybe it's the relevance factor, the comics aren't as well known now or as circulated as they once were. I'm not sure. But those reading those comics made me long for an anthology comic of my own, sure we have Dark Horse Presents and The Theater but neither of those have the same feeling that those comics did. But now we have something that channels those comics and fits into the modern horror mythos with Bela Lugosi's Tales from the Grave." -Spencer Perry

ACADEMY AWARD WINNING MAKE-UP ARTIST RICK BAKER

MIB 3 ALIEN CREATOR & MONSTERVERSE COVER ARTIST - BELA LUGOSI'S TALES FROM THE GRAVE #2 HORROR ANTHOLOGY COMIC

Millions of science fiction film fans can hardly wait for the new MEN IN BLACK film, MIB 3, to beam into theaters this May 25th. A great part of the popular appeal of the films is due to the amazing and often amusing aliens that the MIB crew of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones encounter as they protect earth from alien invasions and disturbances. All of these incredible aliens are the result of the wild imagination and superb talents of Academy Award winner, Rick Baker.

But along with Rick Baker's award-winning film work in theaters (seven Academy Awards while this new film will obviously garner an eighth Oscar nomination) you can find one of his exceptionally bizarre creations on the cover of a horror comic from MONSTERVERSE and available in comic shops and online stores right now. The new BELA LUGOSI'S TALES FROM THE GRAVE #2 horror comic features a special cover created by Baker in Zbrush, a 3-D modeling software used by professionals in the film industry.

Monsterverse publisher and noted comic book/film artist KERRY GAMMILL provided the background painting and color along with designing the cover layout.

Monsterverse works with some of the world's top creators in comic books and film to bring their unique talents to the comics medium in the service of horror stories told with a nod to classic horror while updating the genre for today's audience ...like MEN IN BLACK 3. The horror audience is international and Monsterverse seeks to satisfy fans who love the kind of imagination and bizarre excitement that talents like Rick Baker, John Cassaday, Bruce Timm, John Landis, Joe Dante, Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson, Joss Whedon, Stephen King and other terror experts thrill billions of horror lovers with.

Take a step behind the scenes with Rick Baker and see how he and his professional crew created the aliens for MEN IN BLACK 3 with this clip.
